My Dear Confreres,
An ecclesiastical member of the Order wears the normal religious garb of their denomination, with the neck order on a longer, flatter ribbon, as seen in the below photo of the Chaplain of the Canadian Commandery at a Ceremony of Investiture. Rev. The Chevalier Brereton KJ is also wearing the stole or surplice of the Order in green with the Order cross at either end.
If a member is in religious Orders and is also a Grand Cross, the cordon is worn over the other shoulder than normally worn, so the bow and cross hangs on his right hip. This is to remind us that the cordon was once a sword belt hanging on the left hip, and as religious leaders, priests wore no sword.
